Please note, you have a choice of what application to use. If you are an employer in the 5 to 49 employee size category, you may use the simplified essay application below.

If you choose to apply using the comprehensive application, you may either submit online by completing the electronic application in the "All Other Employers" tab at left or submit by mail the PDF version for all others.

Essay Question

Judges will seek to understand what makes your organization’s approach to work-life notable. Essentially, they want to know your story.

Tip:  As food for thought in preparing your essay, you may find it useful to review the questions covered by the PDF version of the comprehensive application or other sections of the website to get a feel for the range of strategies and practices that could be relevant.

In your application essay, please touch on each of the questions below:

  1. What has been your vision for making your organization supportive of employees who seek to meet both work and family (or personal) responsibilities?
  2. What are the specific steps you have taken to accomplish this? (formal or informal practices, policies, etc.)
  3. What positive impacts have your efforts had on your organization?
  4. What positive impacts have your efforts had on your employees?
  5. What would your employees say is the best thing about working for your organization?  (You may include quotes or testimonials from employees)
